December meeting

Désolée... mon ordinateur m'a laissé tomber pendant qq jours 
De plus le compte à rebours a commencé... plus que 5 jours et ma fille se marie ! Je vous passe les détails du stress avant les derniers préparatifs.


Cette fois-ci, nous étions attendues chez Mélanie pour notre réunion mensuelle.


Au programme :

Bonne humeur
Papotage
Echange de rondes
Exposition de nos encours
Pause café et petits gâteaux
Atelier "cartonnettes"

Je vous montrerai par la suite les photos des rondes, de l'atelier et de nos encours respectifs.

Mélanie ne fait pas que de la broderie... elle fait aussi de très jolies choses au crochet qu'elle destine à des oeuvres de bienfaisance. Ici, une jolie couverture pour un centre d'entre aide "Ezra".

Oscar, un des 3 chats persans de Mélanie est venu participer à notre atelier.

We had a fun meeting. 
We all looked at the flowers we had embroidered for Gloria's "in-a-month" round robin. 
They all looked very pretty together. Gloria still hasn't decided what she'll do with them.

Susan (me) re-showed all the squares the group has done for the regular round robin. I think they look great. 
I offered to give the group a demonstration of how to use sashing to put the squares together. 
Sashing is very  common in quilting, and involves using strips of material to combine units (in this case, squares) of a quilt.

We continued to admire the beautiful works of Taisha, Deborah's mother. The winter scenes with the reindeer are so evocative.

We also saw Rolande's adorable eggbox with a special clasp.
And some embroidery  of winter leaves on aida that Myriam is doing,
 which is not cross stitch, but other stiches.  Something different and worth trying.

Next month's round robin is Melanie's, and she handed out squares.  
Each of us will embroider an insect, of any kind. 
Even a cockroach is ok, Melanie said!

Myriam led a workshop, around Melanie's table,
on making little thig-a-mijigs for winding extra thread around. 
She had all kinds of samples of upholstery material,
which were really suitable for winding thread because they weren't too smooth. It was fun sharing the scissors and glue. 
We felt like we were in an advanced kindergarten.

Susan will invite Shoshana to the next meeting to give a workshop on her free style embroidery. 
We hope she can make it.  It would be nice to branch out.  
Shoshana is really an excellent and skilled embroideress.

The next meeting will be on the first Tuesday in January, at Susan's house. 
Hope you all can make it.

Vickie is recovering from a car accident, and so hasn't been able to come. 
We all wish her a speedy recovery. 
Pnina's hand is still out of shape from overdoing it with the cross stitch.
Pnina, get that hand in shape fast!
