Reunion du mois d'aout/Meeting

Mais avant d'aller me coucher, je vais quand même vous mettre un p'tit article sur notre dernière réunion :0)

Comme d'hab, une super réunion... bonne ambiance, nous étions contentes de nous retrouver et de nous montrer nos dernières merveilles brodées.

La réunion se tenait chez Melanie qui nous avait préparé un petit buffet... huummm. Yamiii...

Au programme :
Faire tourner notre ronde. Certaines toiles sont déjà terminées, pour d'autres, il reste encore 2 rotations... c'est pas grave, au final, tout le monde récupèrera sa toile.

Et puis, l'atelier de Myriam " un coeur pense-bête" d'après un pas à pas de Caro dont voici le blog :

Cet atelier était déjà prévu au programme de notre dernière réunion, mais nous avions préféré papoter plutôt que "travailler"... Alors nous avons remis l'atelier 'coeur" à la reunion suivante.
Sauf moi... qui en bonne élève avait déjà fait le pense-bête (objet d'un de mes "chut"... voir mon blog perso :0))

Vicky qui préfère à nos activités inter-club, broder dans son coin tout en participant à nos bavardages...

continue avec patience sa broderie de "Scarlett O'hara".

Mais cette fois-ci.... Il y avait aussi une SURPRISE pour les filles de notre club.

Fafa, qui a eu l'occasion de participer 2 fois à nos réunions au cours de voyage en Israël, nous a envoyé 2 magazines !!!

Quel plaisir de vous retrouver toutes !

Après mon retour de France, j'ai embrayé avec les fiançailles de ma fille et maintenant les préparatifs du mariage prévu au mois de décembre... J'ai du mal à tout gérer et le blog en pâtit un peu... heureusement que Myriam est là !

Alors voici un petit compte-rendu de notre dernière réunion ; ambiance toujours aussi sympathique malgré qq absentes... Susan est aux States et Debbie, trop occupée par le travail ; Gloria est seulement "absente" sur les photos car elle est arrivée plus tard.
Comme d'hab., nous avons fait tourner notre ronde. C'est toujours un peu la pagaille, mais en fin de compte tout le monde se retrouve avec une toile à broder.
Puis nous avons admiré les ouvrages de Pnina accrochés sur les murs car la réunion était chez elle. Je vous montrerai ces merveilles dans un prochain article:
Vicky, une oreille sur nos papotages, brode telle Pénélope, sa toile de Scarlett O'hara.

J'ai oublié de prendre en photo le buffet que nous avait préparé Pnina, dommage car c'était délicieux.

Cette fois-ci, pas d'atelier ... Nous nous sommes laissées entrainer par nos bavardages.
Pas grave, ce sera pour la prochaine fois !

I am so happy to be with you again.

After my return from France, I had to deal with my daughter‘s engagement and now with the wedding stuff… so I have no time to take care of the blog, but thank G-d, Miryam is helping a lot!

Here is a brief report of our meeting…. Nice atmosphere as usual, Susan and Debbie were missing. Susan is in the States and Debbie was still at work. Gloria came late… that’s why she is not on the pictures :0(

1^st the round robin and then… we were too “lazy” to start a workshop so we had a nice chat ;0)

Hello girls,

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, the 15th of July at Pnina's. Opening doors from 17:00
Our worshop will be conduct by Myriam.
She will show us how to make a reminder (size 11 cmx 11cm), like the one Myriam did for Piroska(see picture in Myriam's things/Les objets brodés de Myriam ).

Those who want to do it, will need:

1) Some hardback pieces of paper to print the months on.
You can print some heart stickers here and then you will cut them:

2) one small embroidery (big enough to cover the carboard) - if you want to embroider a heart, you can get some charts here :

You can already prepare 2 carboards in form of a heart

Voici le matériel pour faire le petit coeur: env 11 cm de haut et 11 de large

1)des feuilles de carton léger pour imprimer les mois. (4)
2) une perforeuse
3) une broderie de 6-7 cm en laissant du tissu de tous les côtés
4) un petit molleton
5)de la colle pour tissu

Myriam apportera des attaches parisiennes

il faudrait préparer aussi 2 cartons un petit peu plus grands environ 2-3 mm pour le début et la fin du coeur et 2 normaux pour cacher la broderie et si derrière vous le désirez, vous pouvez mettre un tissu ou un joli carton

Le mieux serait de découper par avance les coeurs mois, et ceux des 2 couvertures
Comme ca il ne restera plus qu' à coller la broderie et à perforer les cartons.

Désolée de n'avoir pu publier plutôt l'article que Susan a écrit sur notre réunion, mais pendant 2 jours j'ai été malade... "migraine nauséeuse"... impossible de mettre le pied hors du lit :0(

Il n'y a que maintenant que j'ai vu que Susan m'a demandé de publier son article pour elle... voilà qui est fait !

Yesterday the "meeting" was at my house. Because we needed as much table space as possible, I tried to rearrange my living room to accomodate. There were only 7 of us, but with all our stuff, it more than filled up the room. So all the food was in the kitchen.
Hier (mardi), la réunion se passait chez moi. Comme nous avions besoin de place et de la table de la salle à manger, j'ai du réorganiser mon salon. Nous n'étions que 7, mais avec tout notre matériel, nous avons rempli l'espace :0) C'est la raison pour laquelle le buffet était dans la cuisine.

Deborah was our photographer, and so got out of participating in the workshop of "how to make a wall hanging out of your embroidery."
Deborah était notre photographe et n'a donc pas participé à l'atelier qui consistait à faire un "tableau patchwork" d'une de nos broderies.
First we exchanged birthday gifts----Pnina, Gloria and Susan were the birthday girls. Deborah made Gloria, who loves yellow, a framed picture of yellow flowers. Lovely. Miriam gave Susan a   pencil box with a sliding top. On it is a beautiful embroidery of pens. I love it. Thank you Miriam. Melanie gave Pnina a magazine of cross-stitch embroidery
Tout d'abord, nous avons offert les cadeaux d'anniversaire à Pnina, Gloria et Susan. Gloria qui aime le jaune, a reçu un joli cadre jaune avec une broderie de Deborah, Susan a reçu un plumier avec sur le couvercle, une étiquette brodée de Myriam et Pnina a reçu un magazine de point de croix de la part de Mélanie (photos dans un prochain article)
We looked at the interesting additions to the R.R.''s.
Nous avons admiré les nouveaux motifs sur nos RR respectifs.
Then Rolande organized the usual "balagan" about who is next in the rounds, (this time, I have to admit, it wasn't as big a balagan as in previous times) .
Rolande a redistribué entre chacune les toiles de RR...
Then we started the workshop, which involved moving more furniture. It really was a balagan. But things settled down, and everyone found the binding strips they needed.
Deborah, I hope you took a picture of the table! A classic!
Puis nous avons débuté notre atelier, ce qui demandait de bouger les meubles. Ce fut un réel désordre. Mais les choses se sont arrangées et chacune a trouvé le bout de tissu et autres ... dont elle avait besoin pour commencer le travail.
Déborah, j'espère que tu as photographié la table de travail comme d'hab... Un classique !

So the rest of the meeting was spent hand sewing binding onto the little pieces of emroidery. I hope it was informative.
La suite de la réunion s'est passée à apprendre comment coudre ensemble des bandes de tissu pour former un tableau en patchwork. J'espère que ce fût instructif.
But: if I had it to do over again, I would have added a wider binding. This means making the backing and filling bigger than the embroidery, and having the wider binding also serve as a border. Well----next year. I guess I had decided to do the most basic thing, so everyone could see how it works.
Mais, si je devais refaire un atelier, j'aurais ajouter "comment faire un double encadrement". Ce sera pour... l'an prochain, je suppose ;0) J'ai voulu enseigner la base pour que tout le monde comprenne le fonctionnement.

I'll be in the country for about another 2 weeks, so if anyone wants help in making a bigger wall hanging out of embroidery, I'll be glad to assist.
Je ne pars en vacances que dans 2 semaines, si qqn q besoin d'aide pour monter un grand tableau patchwork, je serais heureuse de l'aider.
Thanks to everyone for participating, and for coming.   I think it was a good meeting.
Forgot to mention, from 4:00 on, most of the group was at Rolande's house. Then they came to my house.
Merci a toutes d'être venues et d'avoir participé à cet atelier. Ce fut une réuinon bien sympathique.
J'ai oublié de mentionner que la reunion a débuté à 16 heures chez Rolande et que tout le monde est venu chez moi par la suite à 18 heures.

upcoming meeting . reunion prochain. + amended equipment list

Hi and Bonjour everyone,

Our monthly meeting is this Tuesday at Susan's house. mardi, le 27 mai.
time: as usual, 6:00

(It can start at 16:00 at my place (Rolande) and then we will go all together at Susan).

We'll finally be having our workshop on making a wall hanging out of your emboidery.
So to participate, you will need:

+your embroidery (not too big) (or a piece of any fabric you like, just for the workshop.)

+piece of polyester batting (the fluffy stuff) about the same size as your embroidery, or slightly bigger.

+ A piece of cloth for the backing. The same size as the embroidery.

+ cloth for the binding. can be the same or different as the backing cloth.

I think you'll enjoy learning and doing this project. It's an alternative to framing.

Compte rendu de notre réunion du 29 avril dernier.

Elle s’est passée chez moi... La bonne humeur était au rendez-vous...comme d’habitude ;0)
Susan qui était malade et Vivy, lassée de faire la route Jérusalem/Raanana étaient absentes
Susan, nous te souhaitons un prompt rétablissement.

Après avoir fait tourner notre ronde inter-club...

Nous nous sommes installées autour de la table pour nos petits travaux...

Au programme : « des aimants brodés » En fait, seules Myriam et moi en avons fait...
Mélanie et Deborah ont préfère faire les boites qu’elles n’avaient pas faites lors de la réunion de mars.

Vicky, quant à elle, préférait finir de broder le fond de sa broderie sur « Scarlett O’Hara »

Et oui, vous l’avez remarqué... à cote de Vicky, nous avons une invitée, Tami qui est mercière à Hadera (la ville de Myriam et Vicky). Elle venait se présenter (un coup de pub en passant ;0))) et nous donner une introduction à la broderie Yéménite qu’elle enseigne en cours privé. Malheureusement, je n’ai pas de photos de la broderie à vous présenter car Tami ne voulait pas que j’en prenne... :0( !!! Désolée...

Demain, je vous montre les boites et les aimants terminés ;0) !

La prochaine réunion aura lieu le mardi 27 mai. Susan nous enseignera l’encadrement patchwork.

Brief report of our meeting

The last meeting was at my place. Good mood as usual!

Susan who was sick and Vivy who is a bit tired to drive from Jerusalem to Raanana weren’t at the meeting.

Susan, we hope you are feeling better.

We exchanged our works for the RR and we all sat around the dining table to prepare a magnet.

In fact, only Myriam and I did one. Deborah and Melanie preferred to do boxes. Vicky went on embroidering the back ground of her “Scarlet O’Hara”.

Of course, you’ve noticed a new face beside Vicky. It’s Tami, the haberdasher from Hadera, Myriam’s and Vicky’s town. She wanted to introduce herself… and to present us the “Yemenite embroideries”. No pictures, she didn’t want us to take photos. Sorry…

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 27^th.

Susan will show us how to make a wall hanging out of your embroidery

Friendstitch Cross stitch Meeting Reminder.

Our next meeting is at 6:00 pm this Tuesday, April 29, at Rolande's house.
“open house from 5:00 pm”.

Miryam will be conducting her workshop (magnets); if you want to participate… you will need to bring the following:

1. a small magnet (the kind you get in your mail box as ads)
2.a piece of polyester (batting for quilting) the size of the top of the magnet
3.a piece of cardboard
4.your embroidery
5.a piece of ribbon for finishing, or binding, or trim......
6.and some glue.

Chez Susan/Our meeting at Susan’s

Here are some pictures from our last meeting. We had a lot of fun.

We got 2 new recruits, Vicky who comes from Russia and Sandy from the States. Vicky loves all kind of embroideries. She brought us a marvelous « Scarlet O’Hara », a work full of delicacy. I will soon open a new category to present you all her works.

Voici quelques photos de notre dernière réunion chez Susan. Comme d’habitude, la bonne humeur était au rendez-vous.

Nous avons 2 nouvelles recrues... Vicky, originaire de Russie, et Sandy, originaire des USA. Vicky aime la broderie sous toutes ses formes et nous a apporté quelques uns de ses ouvrages, entre autre une « Scarlet O’Hara » d’une finesse à tomber parterre. Je n’avais encore rien vu d’aussi fin. J’ouvrirai bientôt une rubrique pour vous présenter ses travaux.

Reunion chez Susan

What an exciting and enervating evening! First I ran around making sure everything was ready---cleared space of all the usual debris in our living room----newspapers, drawings, thread, dead flowers, etc. Then made sure there was stuff to drink and eat---not too much, because les girls don't eat so much. We're too busy looking and talking and doing. Then I wanted to make sure there were some of the things available for Miriam's workshop, "how to cover a box with embroidery." Glue, polyester,etc. But before I continue, here is my flexible recipe for the dip I served, which Rolande liked.

Susan's Dip
regular carton cottage cheese
a few dollops yogurt
about 1/2 or more white cheese
olive oil
salt and pepper
lots of chopped cilantro ("cusbara") and dill ("shamir")
Some sliced green onion
a crushed clove of garlic

That's it. Mix it all up, and chill it for a while, to let the flavors marry. You can dip crackers in it, or also raw vegetables.

The rest of the evening was taken up with Rolande's figuring out who does whose round robin next---this took a while. Deborah brought us a new victim---uh, I mean member----Vicky from Natanya. She does amazing work very elaborate and beautiful. She was working on a portrait of Vivian Leigh, the actress from Gone with the Wind. Will Clark Gable come next?

After we oohed and ahhhed about the new additions to the round robins, Miriam commenced to teach us how to cover our boxes----not an easy task (teaching us, that is, not covering the boxes.) We had glue and trimmings and boxes all over the place, but in the end, we had some lovely boxes, which were photographed, although there is no way I can include those photos here because I don't have them, and even if I did, God knows how to do it! (Just kidding, Rolande.....) Some day......

Anyway, see you all next month at Rolande's place.
